An energy audit of the Hancock County Memorial Hospital facility in December, 2005 identified five energy conservation measures. DAE recommended switching to a different electricity rate, night setback in unoccupied areas, vending machine setback timers, pumpless condensate units, and adding an economizer to the air handler unit. The energy cost payback and return on investment to implement these measures are 2.17 years and 46.2%, respectively, which will result in an 8.0% reduction in energy costs.
