The energy audit for this 90,000 square foot foundry, constructed in 1893, identified several energy conservation opportunities. These included variable frequency drives, makeup air replacement, plant-wide demand control, melt furnace heat reclaim, and air compressor heat reclaim. The implementation of these modifications resulted in a 1.7 year payback (59% ROI). The annual energy cost was reduced from $934,780 to $841,873, a savings of $92,581 or approximately 10%.
