Mr. Boulware has over 40 years of hands-on experience in HVAC and plumbing design for a variety of facilities. He also is experienced in energy audit and demand side management studies, including the following projects:
Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital
Indianapolis, IN
DAE installed 2400 tons of chiller capacity with related primary/secondary/cooling tower pumping and controls. Estimated cost was approximately $1.2 million and came in significantly under budget because of creative use of Victaulic piping in phasing the installation.
Guide Corporation
Muncie, IN
This project was an energy audit of 2.4 million square foot manufacturing facility resulting in a 40% ($1.4 million) operating cost reduction with four months payback. Savings resulted from revisions to central heating and cooling systems, replacement of existing lighting to high efficiency lamps and ballasts with motion detection control, and modulation of plant compressed air system to better match actual load.
Head Start Center
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands
This existing abandoned building was renovated into a modern office building. Highlights of the design include domestic water and fire sprinkler system based on rainwater catchment, and emergency generation, all done to sea coast corrosion and hurricane emergency standards.
Past Experience
Bob Boulware is President of Design-Aire Engineering, Inc. Bob is a past president of the ARCSA and an Accredited Rainwater Systems Design Professional. He is a 30+ year member of ASHRAE and past president of the Central Indiana Chapter of ASPE and serves on the ASPE National Standards Committee. Mr. Boulware is a member of the IAPMO Alternative Water Sources Committee, and helped to develop the Green Plumbing Supplement to the upcoming editions of the Uniform and the International Plumbing Codes. Mr. Boulware has taught Environmental Design for mechanical and electrical systems at Ball State University and plumbing design at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
